The Bible, as we know it today, was collated by the pagan Roman emperor Constantine the Great.”(pg. 231)
man created [the Bible] and it has evolved through countless translations, additions, and revisions. History has never had a definitive version of the book. More than eighty gospels were considered for the New Testament, and yet only a relative few were chosen for inclusion
“. . . Jesus suspects He will soon be captured and crucified. So he gives Mary Magdalene instructions on how to carry on His Church after He is gone…Jesus was the original feminist. He intended for the future of His Church to be in the hands of Mary Magdalene.” (pp. 247-248)
Not only was Jesus Christ married, but He was a father. My dear, Mary Magdalene was the Holy Vessel. She was the chalice that bore the royal bloodline of Jesus Christ. She was the womb that bore the lineage, and the vine from which the sacred fruit sprang forth.” (pg. 249)
“Mary Magdalene was pregnant at the time of the crucifixion . . . With the help of Jesus’ trusted uncle, Joseph of Arimathea [she] secretly traveled to France, then known as Gaul. There she found safe refuge in the Jewish community. It was here in France that she gave birth to a daughter. Her name was Sarah.” (pg. 255)
“. . . the Priory’s tradition of perpetuating goddess worship is based on a belief that powerful men in the early Christian church ‘conned’ the world by propagating lies that devalued the female and tipped the scales in favor of the masculine . . . Constantine and his male successors successfully converted the world from matriarchal paganism to a patriarchal Christianity by waging a campaign of propaganda that demonized the sacred feminine, obliterating the goddess from modern religion forever.” (pg. 124)
“Simon Peter said to them: ‘Let Mary [Magdalene] leave us, for women are not worthy of life.’ Jesus said, ‘I myself shall lead her in order to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every woman who will make herself male will enter the kingdom.’” (114) Therefore, treatment to women was horrible.
What do you think of the film/book?
I find the film and book very interesting, but I rather prefer the book, as it is more informative and you can understand easily than the book. I think it was very interesting and it was something that I wanted to know more about. Also, I am a fan of Tom Hanks and Audrey Tatou and I think their performance in this movie was very good.
Why do you think the film/book was so successful?
I think the film/book was very interesting because many people have always had an interest in this and they find it interesting as there is not much out there in society to learn/watch from that will catch people's attention (e.g; they used big actors in the movie to catch the audience's attention and to make it popular).
**After viewing the film and the Power Point, ‘The Truth about the Da Vinci Code’, what conclusions do you reach? Explain fully. Consider each of the claims you identified at the top.
I reach the conclusion that there are many myths about Mary Magdalene and her relationship with Jesus, and many people have changed and evolved the story to what people believe it is today. I believe that the was an actual woman named Mary Magdalene and that she was an inspirational woman.
